The Town of Austerlitz has several challenges ahead. Implementation of the Town's new zoning law is probably the largest. Public education of the law and how zoning will affect the town’s people is a priority. A Road Plan must be put in place and followed. Grant money never used for parks and recreation should be wisely spent. The Town having agreed to accept 4.5 miles from the Bryarcliffe Development will add budgetary demands that the town must face. I believe I am up to that challenge.
At the County level I am worried that taxes will increase dramatically. The County has purchased a very expensive storage building (Ockawamick), is looking to buy Hudson City Centre; a new Pine Haven is in the future; and it recently built the Mental Health Building and expanded the Public Safety Building for the 911 Center. Higher taxes are obviously in the future for Columbia County.
As Hudson is the County seat I believe that DSS should stay in or near Hudson, easily accessible by public transportation. I also feel that Pine Haven should stay in Philmont.
