UPDATE 04-01-09 - At 2:12 p.m., the Columbia County Board of Elections distributed its retabulated but still unofficial results from yesterday's special election. While Murphy still has a comfortable 56 percent of the votes cast in Columbia County, 10 votes have shifted from Murphy to Tedisco, making the current totals 8,449 for Murphy and 6,560 for Tedisco.

Murphy's lead districtwide, which last night was reported variously as 59, 65, and 66, today has dropped to 25, according to the Times Union, as well as other sources, and the Times Union is attributing the narrowing lead solely to the change in Columbia County's numbers.

The recalculation resulted in changes in the numbers from two polling places: Hudson 4, where votes for Murphy on the Democratic line were yesterday reported as 97 but today as 87; and Livingston 1, where votes for Tedisco on the Republican line were yesterday reported as 130 but today as 140. The chart below shows the changes.
